Regensburg From 27th May to 3rd June

 Going under Stone Bridge, at one time I thought we were not moving. 

The Stone Bridge is a beautiful 12th-century bridge with 16 arches.

There is only one marina that takes guests and that is the last one, It has a shower and toilet, no WiFi, we have decided it's time to get a German SIM, no washing machine but there is a laundromat a short walk from the marina. Has electricity but you need an adapter, which we don't have, so we will catch a bus to the Bauhaus the following day. Turns out we didn't need to catch the bus just to get an adaptor, a fellow boaty rode his bike early in the morning and brought one for us. I just love this community. Thank you Markus.

 

Home for the next week

Morning a hail storm, afternoon beer festival, life is good.

Traditional dress in Germany
- Men, Lederhosen  "Leather Trousers" traditionally made from tanned deer leather. They were sold at the carnival average price 150,00 euros and are very soft.
- Women, the Dirndl. A Dirndl is a women's dress, consisting of 4 mail components: a bodice (connected at the front), a skirt, a shit (worn underneath the bodice) and an apron.

Deggendorf to Bach

 Long traveling day today, 78 kms. Including 2 locks.

We have discovered there are not a lot of places to stop in Germany, which is a shame, there are a lot of lovely towns / villages along the Danube River.

We found a ferry stop to park for the night in Bach, we didn't get off the boat in case a ferry did came along. We did check and their last stop of the day was at 5:30 pm and they weren't due the following morning until 10:30 am. We will definitely want be out of here by then.

Deggendorf

Stayed 2 nights at the yacht club.  
 

Hofkirchen

We stayed here one night. 

This part of the river was very sallow,  just before 7:30pm, we noticed a Cruise ship slowing down and then just stop. At first we thought they must stop at this town and wondered why, there wasn't much to see here. Then when it started reversing then going forward, then repeating we understood what was happening. Not sure how long it was trying but it was gone when I got back from the showers.

In the morning a commercial ship also became grounded. He couldn't move at all, he radioed other ships in the area and they drove close to him in the hope to push him off. It took three commercial ship to do this before he could move again, must have been an hour.

Passau

Passau is known as the "City of Three Rivers", I tried to get all three rivers in a photo but couldn't manage it. 

The river on the left of the point, is called the Inn and the water starts in Switzerland.

The little river on the right before the white building, is called Ilz, the water is from Bavarian Forest, Germany, so didn’t travel as far. The one straight ahead is the Danube, we will be staying on that one.

The marina is a fair distance from Passau, and there is a small supermarket not to far away and a bus stop close by to get to the city.

We took the bus into Passau, walked to the three rivers. You can see in the above photo of the information board, shows the three rivers better then I could manage.
