Breisach, Germany - 8th July to 10th July 2023

Back on the Rhine

A long day of traveling on the Rhine, with 2 locks, both of which we waited an hour, both times we were in with a commercial ship. These locks have floating bollards and go up very slowly which I like.

Staying at MYC sports boat club 2 euros per meter with free electricity and water, free showers with no timer and close to the center of town at 10-minute stroll. 15 minutes to 2 supermarkets.

Boofzhheim - 7th July to 8th July 2023

We stopped at Obenheim for lunch and for Martin to get into the water to clear the weed from the propeller. The restaurant in the photo closes at 2:30, we arrived at 1:45 to find out the kitchen closes at 1:30. We stayed for a drink then walked back.

We stopped at the side of the canal near Ecluse no 76 and the Le Boat office.
Dessert on the back deck at sunset

Morning walk into town

Not sure you can see it very well, but in one of the windows has a painting of a lady and gentleman looking out of the window.

And stopped at the boulangerie for a croissant and coffee.

Ecluse no 81 De Plobsheim - 6th July to 7th July 2023

Stop at the side of the canal near Illkirch-Graffenstaden for lunch.

Stopped at the side of the canal near the Ecluse no 81 for the night, no electricity or water. It seems to be that when the map says you can anchor here, the locals and their barges have picked the spots for their permanent stop meaning no room for those of us that are passing by.

Our stop for the night

Water is getting clearer the closer we get to the Rhine

Sunset for the back deck

Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Chene, was rebuilt in 1451 after the first one built on this site from two farms in 1351 was destroyed in the Hundred Year War

Ecluse no 81, nice to see the eclusiers house being used.

Walking back to the boat there is what I thought was an old building, turns out it's the back of the farmers shed. Photo above and below are from the same broken window one to the right and the other to the left, I didn't know what I had taken until I got back to the boat and had a look.

Marina in town, 15 Euros for 7 days for a 9.99-meter boat (you pay for 6 nights get the 7th night free, you have to remind them of their discount or they don't give it to you)

Electricity is 4 euros a day, water is 3 Euros a day, these are not an option, and we were charged for the 7 days.

Has a small chandlery in the marina office and an agent that sells boats.
