Technology (and feeling like we're still at home)

 One of the things we did this time was bring the Amazon Firestick with us. Plugs in to the back of the TV and providing we have an internet connection we can watch things like ABC iView. Currently watching the ANZAC day dawn service live from Sydney. Lest we forget.

Walked into town to buy groceries, to found out it's Sunday. Sunday nothing is open.

 

Quick update heading back to Tulln an der Donau

Sailed back from Vienna today leaving later than planned. Left just after 1100 and did a mix of electric and diesel motoring. The current is stronger than I originally expected and we ended up taking longer and using more fuel than planned. In the worst places we were running at 2,000 RPM and using 6.2 litres per hour just to make 6.5kmh SOG (Speed Over Ground). At that rate we're almost talking litres per km! Fortunately after going thru the lock we were able to use the electric motor for a bit (7kmh) and then when the batteries were down to 60% we ran on diesel at 1500 RPM (3 litres/hr) doing about 8.5kmh while charging the batteries as well. Not sure what that's going to average out at but it has made me change my planning from 10kmh down to 8kmh.
