Terneuzen Outside Marina - 30th May 2025

Marina Facilites: Jachthaven Ternezen BV

Berth: for a 10-meter boat €26.74 a night pay via an App
Electricity: Pay using the App, not sure we didn't plugin
Water: Pay using the App, not sure of the cost we didn't need any water.
Shower: Free with timer button, 5 minutes shower. Timer resets after a couple of minutes.

WIFI: excellent (yeah sorta. ~ 6M up and down)

On the way out of Ternezen (inside marine), we went back to Navimar with Sun Chi and purchased a new float switch for the grey water tank.

Float switch, soon we can stop remembering to turn the grey water pump on and off.

Installing the float switch, no room under the floor to straighten up. Good job Martin.
We will be living with buckets in the sinks for the next 24 hours, to give the Sikaflex time to dry.

Boats are getting bigger - ship on the way to Antwerp Belgium

Green line is Sun Chi, Yellow line is a Commercial Burge we are used to on the canals, the blue line is a container ship, you always know when one is passing through because Sun Chi will start to rock with the water movement

Terneuzen Inside Marina - 28th May to 29th May 2025

Rain stopped just as we finished tying up, it's always the way. The wind stayed for a little bit longer though. Parking took a couple of attempts, are we going front in, back in, depends on the wind at that particular moment.

Marina Facilites:

Berth: for a 10-meter boat €23.50 a night
Electricity: comes with the marina cost
Water: free
Shower: Free with timer button

Great town for restocking, marina is close to Jumbo, Action, Gamma (Hardware Store) and Navimar, (like a chandlery it's mostly for the commercial barges but was still handy), our grey water float switch decided three years was enough and it was time to retire. After a 30-minute walk from the marina, discovered it was closed and then we remembered it was a public holiday.

Marina - great location, close to town.

Starbucks in Jumbo, cold drinks only

Netherlands, Sas van Gent - 27th May 2025

Finaly made it into Netherlands, the weather the last couple of weeks has been cold and windy. This last week we have been walking without our big jackets which is a good sign.

Marina Facilites:

Berth: for a 10-meter boat €15 a night
Electricity: €1 not sure for how much we didn't use any
Water: free
Shower: €1 again not sure for how long, if water is free on the dock we use the shower onboard.

Great little town has a church, 4 pubs and a sex shop. I'm sure there is more but the clouds were getting darker and it was time to head back before it started to rain.

Belgium is behind us, Netherlands here we come.

Marina, visitor dock is the at the entrance to the marina.

Sun Chi on the end, on the other side of the canal is the Sugar Factory, wasn't too nosy at night

Ghent was one of the largest and richest cities in Europe during the Middle Ages. Its well-preserved medieval architecture reflects this prosperous past. Like Bruges, Ghent boasts beautiful canals that add to its charm.

Ghent is a university city.

I don't usually drink beer but I'm getting into the Cherry Beer. Kilkenny was a bust, wasn't creamy at all.

Ghent has art all around the city, you just have to keep a look out for the hidden ones

Bruges - 16th May to 22ndMay 2025

We took a day trip to the bridge to see how it was going and to charge the batteries a bit, Stalhillebrug is still under repair, they can't guarantee it will be fixed tonight. We may have to start on Plan B when we work out what that will be.

About 3:00pm the Water Management drove past and informed us we can now go through. One of the counterweights fell on the bridge and damaged the bridge.

Walking bridge at Jabbeke has been removed and taken away for repair

Made it to Bruges, finally.

Marina Facilites:

Berth: for a 10-meter boat for 7 days (week) was €78
Electricity: (50cents per kwh)
Water: €1 Euro gets you 150 liters
Card for the Electricity and water and Showers. €10 deposit which you will get back once you return the card.

Market is on Wednesdays and there is a small one every day at the old Fish Market.

Bruges, often referred to as the "Venice of the North," is a picturesque city in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It's renowned for its canals, cobblestone streets and medieval architecture. And then there is the movie "In Bruges" that was filmed in 2008 here.

Marina in Bruges, very quiet this time of year.

Not the best angle for a photo, there was a container right across the road but I liked the look of the building

Tastiest rusty tools around. Yes, it is Belgian chocolate.

Inside everything a young wizard would need.

Plassendale - 14th May and 15th May 2025

Free stop, no facilities not even a bakery or pub near by

Heading to Brugge today, that is what we thought anyway. 3 bridges and 2 locks later we were told the Stalhillebrug is under repair and will be fixed by tonight.

Stopped at Plassendale until tomorrow, again didn't go as planned, there was an incident at the bridge that has held up the repairs. Staying another night.

 Park for 2 nights

Beautiful, old double lock system on the edge of Ostend. Consisting of 4 upper and 4 lower gates. approx. 90m long, 6m wide. The lock was built around the middle of the seventeenth century.

The Spanish Toll House, ships had to pay a toll to the Spanish to use the lock.

Plenty of parking space

Oostende - 13th May 2025

We stayed at the Oostende North Sea Yacht Club

€38,25 for a 9.99-meter boat, includes everything, electricity, water, showers.

2 hours at sea, I was looking forward to traveling by sea again, then it all came back, the swell, the boat rocking, not been able to make a cuppa incase the boat rocked and you have tea all over the place.

Oostende - entering the channel

Hello Oostende

Our way in

The city is a seaside resort but also has ports for industry and fishing.

Ostend, also known as "City by the sea" is the 16th largest city in Belgium in 2022, with 72,000 inhabitants, in the summer, the number of inhabitants increases fivefold to around 400,000. This large number can be explained by the many campsites, hotels and apartments of tourists who come to the sea during the holidays.

Home for the next 2 nights at high tide
