               Charles Buls Fountain

Street to the Grand Place

The Grand-Place, is the central square of Brussels, Belgium, and the main square of the city. It is the place where citizens have gathered for large events and markets for centuries. It is also the location of the city government.

The area of 7,480 square meters is surrounded by the Baroque guild houses, the Gothic town hall and the neo-Gothic King's House. The square, initially built in the 11th century, is completely paved. The construction was not completed until the 17th century and has been the subject of many reconstructions following wars and conflicts over the centuries.

Today, the Grand-Place is an important landmark in Brussels. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The square is often home to festivals and other cultural events.

Town Hall, hard to get the whole building in the photo see below photo for the top of the building

The main reason we went to Brussel was to pickup a Gas Spring, so there was another train ride and a kilometer walk to LDA.

Works like a charm

11 kilos to lift up the hatch

Then use the boat hook on the corner while we change to the new one

This is a statue of the Quay Runners, they were tough, sturdy guys who loaded and unloaded the ships at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century.

Their names left to right: The Brown One, The Whimper, The Quaywalker and The Cross-eyed Wringer

In the stream of time. Symbolizes the next generation and the future.

This house used to be a two-family house, a warehouse and cement factory. In 1921 Frans Boel, converted it all into a single home
