Short answer is Left!
To put that into context, here's a shot from google maps. Red line shows us coming from Winningen down to Nancy where we are now. We're going left heading on the Canal de la Marne au Rhin Est and heading to Strasbourg.
From there, we will either come back here and then head south to St Jean de Losne or go (up river or down the map) on the Rhine to Mulhouse and then follow the Doubs river.
This is the sort of information that I have (from eurocanals.com) that shows me a whole bunch of information. Yesterday we picked up a remote for the 25 ish automatic locks for this section and we'll hand it back at lock 2.
